In Vietnam, there is no need to have a microchip for your pet. However, there are still some tricky requirements when you transport a pet in Vietnam.

Transport a pet in Vietnam by bus

The most convenient and cheapest transportation to travel in Vietnam is the bus. Therefore, it is a very popular vehicle that most of the local people choose to travel. However, if you travel with your pet, it is a problem. The reason is that when you transport a pet in Vietnam by bus, the pet must be put in a cage. Furthermore, you also need to muzzle your pet so that he cannot harm anybody on the bus.

One more important thing that to the local people, it is usual but for the foreigners who see the pet as their family member, it is not convenient. When you transport a pet in Vietnam, you must put him in the bus cabinet. It means you cannot accompany with him directly.

However, a good thing is that you do not need to provide health or any vaccine certificate to prove that your pet is safe and does not contain any harmful virus. It is the same with transport a pet in Vietnam by bus. It means you have to use the muzzle and put your pet into a cage when he is travelling with you on a train. And there is no need to submit any health or vaccine certificates to the railway company.

If you do not want to put your pet into a cage, you still have another way. You can choose to buy all the ticket in a cabin to spend the space for you and your pet. In this case, it would save for your budget if you buy tickets for the lying cabin. It means you will buy four tickets at once. But do not forget to use the muzzle for your pet even in this case.

Transport a pet in Vietnam by airplane

If you choose to transport a pet in Vietnam by airplane, it is more quite complicated about the rules and regulations. It is not all the flight you can go with your pet. There is only Vietnam Airline allows passengers to bring a pet with all the flight. To other brands, it depends. However, Vietnam Airline only allows transporting pet as checked baggage but not as a passenger.

After buying a normal ticket with a checked baggage fee, you need to prepare all these followings to transport a pet in Vietnam by airplane:

  • Immigration permission for your pet and other related documents that you have done while transporting the pet from your country to the destination (including the transit country). All these documents must be submitted 24 hours before the flight.
  • Your pet must have good health and not stink.
  • Your pet is not in the pregnant.
  • Feed him 3 hours before the flight.
  • Give him a name tag and contact number in case he gets lost.

When the flight arrive, you can see him in the conveyor of checked baggage.

Transport a pet in Vietnam by a private vehicle

If you do not like to put your pet in a cage or see him as checked baggage, you can choose to drive him in your private vehicle. In this case, you only need a muzzle for him. There is no cage and any health or vaccine certificate.
